Me, chowing down after the race

Chris, and Jill, chowing down post-race

Justin took this pic of us before the race (I think)

I love these guys!! This is (i think) my fave pic of us three, EVER!

This is probably my most favorite race ever. I freakin LOVE this run!!!!! I even made my poor sister do it, I *THOUGHT* she'd love it, and, uhmmm, yeah -- instead, she hates trail runs now :-( whoops!!!!

This is an innocent enough 5K. It starts in an open field, then you travel across a wooden bridge, and into a wooded area. The next 2-2.25 miles are all through the woods, on dirt paths. It had rained in the days before the race, so there were LOTS (and, i mean a LOT) of puddles, but it was so heavily wooded that the sun never had a chance to dry anything under foot......so a large part of the trail run was wet and a little slippery. My favorite part of this race is about the 2 mile mark where you come out of the woods for a brief time, before re-entering the woods.... there is about a 250 yard long span where you can see the rest of the runners, this is a small race, so there are parts of it where you are nearly alone in the woods......spooky.....

At some point just after the 2, we come out of the woods and begin the paved portion of the race. Sidewalks, paved paths, and even some composite bridges.....and, these people are cruel. They put the highest hill at the 2.9 mile mark...... you really have to dig deep to get up this hill, and just when your legs can breathe again, BLAM, it's the race to the finish.

Jackie had the most amazing finish I have ever seen, ever. She run/walks the 5K's and she looked pissed and exhausted coming into the field where the finish is (it's a loop course, so you finish in the same field you start in) but somewhere, this girl came up with the energy to not only finish strong, she hauled a$$, I swear she did that last .17 miles in under 10 seconds!!! Cameron had started to run beside her, and she said that she would never hear the end of it if he beat her, so she gave it her all!!! Way to go Jackie!! SO very proud of her!

This is a race I will probably continue doing every year until we retire from running, I just love it!!!

Oh yeah -- and, they have kiddie kare -- so our kids got to come with and watch the runners, so now the boys wanna become runners too...... pretty awesome if you ask me! I LOVE the ripple effect that my desire to run has had on those I love.... I just love it.
AND, AND, AND -- a HUGE shout out to T&H timing..... after waiting ALLLLLL day for the results to post, we got them, and Chris wasn't on the list! anywhere!!!! he was really sad and bummed (which is better than me -- I would have been FURIOUS!!!!) So, I emailed the race director at about 7:30 am, within about 1 hour (after numerous emails and even a phone call from the timing company) his time was found, and later on Monday, the results were re-posted to include 1 Christopher Hasara. so, WAY TO GO T&H Timing!!! Job well done!!!
